25 dollar "contest"

I live in a ridiculously priced apartment complex. They gave us a flyer yesterday that said that if you pay your rent before the first of each month, your name will go in a drawing and if your name is drawn-you get 25 dollars off next month's rent! The rent is already so much, it's difficult to pay with one week's pay(even with a good job) and their incentive is you might win 25.00 dollars. I think they need to re-evaluate their incentives. Most places give you 25 bucks or more off every month's rent if you pay by the first. 800 dollars a month in Mississippi, not New York or California, not even Atlanta, but Mississippi. It's two bedrooms! My brother said I should post everyday, so here is today's post. Read it and weep a little for me.

So bored with the Internet

After I check the bank account balance, check my email, check to see if my competitive brother has commented on any of my posts, (Thanks Brian for the comments-it's nice to see a non-family member comment-even though my husband does consider you like a brother) checked netflix, checked on any packages shipped or that I am expecting, read the CNN headlines, There is nothing left to do!
Sometimes I check weather.com or tvguide.com to pass time, but that is IT! I got nothing, even if I take my sweet time, enjoy a diet coke, snack, 4-course meal, doing all that takes 15 minutes-20 minutes max! Now If I had any money I could shop all day long on the Internet! So even if money doesn't buy happiness, it could very possibly kill some time.
The Internet has become like Saturday night or even worse Sunday afternoon television-there is nothing on. And that is when it dawned on me, maybe the reason there are so many blogs out there is because what else is there to do really, I mean in most cases when you sit down at the computer you have already gotten out of bed and the day has been effectively ruined by that point anyway, right? Might as well do something while you are at the computer.

Tuesday Theology and Pac Man God

We had a speaker at Chapel on Tuesday. I believe he is a soon retiring professor at the college. He retold the well known shepherd- looses -one- of -his -sheep story. He did add a twist that( in all my many years of churching) I had not heard before. He said is was a good thing the shepherd had not attended RTS (Reformed Theological Seminary) because he would simply believe that the lost sheep was predestined to hell anyway. I also like something else this grand ole Baptist had to say. God isn't mad at us when we are lost, He is actually sad. Now I don't want God to be sad or mad, but this "sad thing" is different than the Pac Man God I grew up believing in. Maybe, just maybe God isn't out to get us. Maybe He won't chomp us up if we make a bad turn or don't complete the board quickly enough. Maybe raising your child to believe that God is sad with our poor decisions instead of mad at us when we fail to make the right choices is a better option. What I do know is that re-learning what you were churched to believe is HARD WORK.

Chocolates and DVD'S

My husband bought me some chocolates for Valentine's Day. They are exactly the ones I wanted, but when I told my cousin they cost 30 dollars a pound, she said she would feel guilty eating candy that cost that much. I would easily pay 90 dollars a pound for good eating-which as I write this sounds kinda like having a drug problem because it is true-food is my drug of choice, but I ain't gotta have the good stuff all the time. A dime bag of little debbie usually suffices. I realized that I entitled my blog too many wrong roads, but if you wander here accidently somehow and don't know me-you may not quite comprehend what that's all about. I am hear to tell you that I lead a life of misdirection so bad that the definition of the word would scarcely prepare ya. I'll give one quick example-I paid 30 dollars tonight for a dvd set of a show I had never seen, had no idea what it was about, but I wanted it anyway. It is called Wonderfalls. We watched the pilot episode just now, and after doing some brief research of imdb, I found out it was made last year but only 13 eps were made-and only 4 of them aired-which possibly would have influenced my decision to buy said dvd's if only there hadn't been a pretty view-master on the front. Hello viewmaster lovers! Unite! Do you know they have come out with a view master gift set that has all the cool pictures anybody would need to get acquainted with our world in under like 3 minutes? I don't know if I would recommend everyone buy this dvd set, but please netflix it or borrow it from a friend and at least watch the pilot-the girl freaking talks to inanimate objects and more suprisingly they talk back-she has a degree from an Ivey league school but chooses to live in a trailer park and work at a gift shop=it's good times! Oh and my husband told me to mention that Greatest American Hero is out on DVD and season 2 will be out in April. WE watched that pilot too-it's also good stuff! Check back later for more compulsive decisions you too can try at home.

Takers eat well....givers sleep well

I read that in a daily bread devotional from like I think October of last year-If you are a Christian, pretending or otherwise-it's a nice devotional book. Reading that made me wonder if that is the reason I'm a fat insomniac. A couple of weeks ago at church the preacher said that there was a saying that went something like "there is nobody more miserable than a half-hearted Christian" and I instantly resented the saying, but more so I resembled it. I would also like to state for the record it is not my goal to shove Christianity down anyone's throats nor is that the purpose of my little blog. I just don't believe Jesus would shove Chritianity in anyone's face either. He loves you and I also believe he respects sincere doubt(my daddy told me that).

but anyway.......my question today is do you choose God, or does God choose you, or does God choose for you to choose him? And are there many takers in heaven? Or is heaven full of givers only? Please let me know if you have an opinion.

Like I promised I wrote again today with a review

Hi everyone. I got to watch Aloha Scooby Doo yesterday and it is pretty good! Now mind you realize it's no Alien Invaders or Zombie Island and I may not buy this one, but it is definitely rentable. The best feature was the 30 second preview at the beginning of the disc which promises a What's New Scooby Doo volume 5 this summer-I had been wondering when that would come out:) The worst feature was that Mario Lopez did a voice in the movie, and even though I liked him on Saved By The Bell, his voice is way too recognizable for me to just "get over it". I like the fact that most of the voices on the show are familiar-but his is way too familiar if ya know what I mean. Well that's about it for today-maybe I'll write Monday and tell ya all the things I bought with my share of our income tax return:)

I got an email the other day that said "yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery" so that will be my meaningful comment for the day.

Only 5 peas in my pot pie

There were only 5 peas in my pot pie just now:) I am so delighted! I never understood what with all the food choices we have now that you can't buy a pealess pot pie. Mmmn pot pie is good, but picking around the peas takes away from the overall enjoyment process. Also I should get to watch the new animated Scooby Doo Movie Aloha Scooby Doo today it should be here via netflix and I am overly thrilled. Looks like today is gonna be a good one. Oh this is my very first post on a blog, and don't get me wrong I want to write deep meaningful things as much as the next egocentric blogger, but let's face it a day without peas is a day worth typing about. If ya check back tomorrow I'll let ya know if you too should seek out Scooby Doo Hawaiian style:)
